Malignant schwannoma of the trigeminal nerve.
SUMMARY We present the MR imaging, CT, and clinical findings of a patient with malignant schwannoma of the trigeminal nerve. Local tumor recurrence is frequent and may be mistaken for lymphatic spread. In this report, we emphasize the natural history of this rare tumor and discuss the importance of imaging in diagnosis and surveillance.
متن کاملAncient Schwannoma of the Trigeminal Nerve Mimicking High Grade Lesion
Ancient schwannomas rarely found in the central nervous system and ancient change in an intracranial schwannoma (intracranial portion of the trigeminal nerve) is extremely rare. A seventy-year man presented with headache of 3 months duration and one episode of generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Imaging findings were suggestive of left temporal high grade lesion. During surgery there was well...
متن کاملEpithelioid Schwannoma of a Spinal Nerve Root.
Even though the diagnosis of schwannoma is usually straightforward in lesions with classic features, tumors with predominantly epithelioid morphology or marked myxoid change may present a diagnostic challenge. There are relatively few reported cases of epithelioid schwannoma entirely lacking classic morphology, and these have occurred in subcutaneous tissues, mucosal surfaces, or as gastrointes...
متن کاملMalignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (malignant epithelioid Schwannoma) of the parotid gland.
PROBLEMS/OBJECTIVES Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours are uncommon soft tissue tumours originating from Schwann cells or nerve sheath cells. Malignant epithelioid schwannoma is an aggressive variant of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour, and unfortunately is related with a high rate of recurrence and poor prognosis. METHODOLOGY In this study we present a rare case of malignant e...
متن کاملMalignant Epithelioid Schwannoma of the Oral Cavity in a Cat
A malignant epithelioid schwannoma of the oral cavity was diagnosed in an 8-year-old domestic short-hair cat. The mass was located in the gingiva of the upper left premolar to molar region and showed multinodular growth patterns. The mass comprised epithelioid cells arranged in densely packed sheets. Tumor cells had large, round to oval nuclei with prominent nucleoli and an abundant eosinophili...
